CULTIVATING THE CONDITIONS FOR HUMAN FLOURISHING

Whether you're seeking strength and vitality, rest and renewal, or a way to come back into alignment with yourself and those you care about, you are welcome here. I am a yoga teacher, psychotherapist, and anthropologist interested in the question of what it means to be human. I offer an approach to yoga, counselling and psychotherapy that is heart centered, and grounded in the wisdom of the body and cross-cultural understanding. I create spaces of deep listening, transformational movement practices, and embodied healing.

My offerings support people across life’s seasons; whether in a therapy session, a yoga class, a sunset retreat in Sardinia, or a winter stillness gathering in Somerset, my mission is to guide people to come home to themselves—and to each other—whilst cultivating an awareness of nature and the role of the environment in personal and social change. Begin your journey of discovery by choosing from one of three pathways: yoga, therapy or anthropology.

Embodied Healing

The path of my own healing journey is profoundly centred in the practices of yoga and psychotherapy. Over a period of thirty years, or more, I have returned again and again to the therapist's chair and my own yoga mat to find a way to know myself more deeply and come home to myself. This is never just about talking things through, or bringing muscles, and bones, breath and body back into alignment. What matters is the reassuring realisation that beneath the confusion of life’s ever busier distractions, distortions and constant depletions, the possibility of peace-of-mind and a sense of well being is always there, waiting to be rediscovered. The challenge is to find the courage to gradually know and remove the obstacles that stand in the way of our own and others' freedom and flourishing.

I am now honoured to guide others on the path to the healing medicine of yoga and psychotherapy. I am passionate about the cross-cultural curiosity that anthropology can lend to our understanding of the human condition, which allows me to bring a human-centred wisdom to all that I do. This space is an offering from my journey — an ongoing exploration of what it means for us to find a way forward when the path to healing and change seems impossible to find.

”Our time in Sardinia was one of absolute revelation. We are both at different stages of our practise, though attending Gillian’s Retreat in Sardinia really unlocked something for the both of us. Gillian really takes the time to get to the heart of each of her student’s needs, she makes all of us feel seen and deeply cared for. The classes were challenging but not remotely daunting.

Everyday we both went a little further, a little deeper. Gillian arranged dinner for us all every night, where we all broke bread like family. Then there was our boat trip - which was an unreal experience! We sunned on the top deck, we lazed on private beaches, we swam in the sea, we laughed and connected deeply. We can’t wait for the next one”

“I have tried talking therapy many times, but it doesn’t come close to the benefit I experience from practising Sun Salutations in one-to-one sessions with Gillian.

What happens is hard to describe in words; I know that I gain in physical and emotional strength, I feel reassured and at the same time more vital, more courageous, grounded and at ease in body and mind. It is the one thing that makes me feel I can cope with the overwhelming challenges of my life at the moment.”

“One-to-One Spinal Release sessions with Gillian have been truly eye opening. The practice is more than restorative; it is a deep and transformative journey through body and soul - lovingly guided by a gifted teacher whose attunement and care create a space of true safety and belonging.

The practice is always a restful, nourishing pause in the busyness of everyday life. No matter how I arrive, I leave the session feeling more grounded, more in tune with my emotions and more deeply connected to my body. Over time, I have felt my mood lift, my breath deepen, and my ability to find peace and calm grow stronger.”

"Gillian's yoga class came to me at a time in my life when I was experiencing a lot of stress and felt out of touch with my body.

Within a matter of weeks I feel strong, revitalised and cared for under Gillian's tutelage. This is more than yoga class. It is a deeply personal and emotional journey, cultivating inner as well as outer strength."
